Plain-English definitions for the terminology used across Coach's Corner.
- Accumulator
- A bet that links multiple selections; all must win for the bet to pay out.
- Asian Handicap
- A handicap given to teams to level the playing field, with fractional or whole line values that eliminate the draw.
- Bet Builder
- A feature that lets you combine different outcomes from a single match into one wager.
- Bet Slip
- The digital record where you add your selected bets and set the amount you want to stake.
- Both Teams to Score
- A market where you bet on whether each side will score at least one goal during the match.
- Cash Out
- The option to settle a bet early for a reduced payout, based on current odds.
- Double Chance
- A wager that covers two of the three possible match outcomes, such as a home win or a draw.
- First Goalscorer
- A bet on which player will score the first goal in a match.
- Handicap Line
- The numeric value set by the bookmaker to give one team an advantage or disadvantage in a match.
- In-Play
- Betting that takes place after a match has started, with odds that update as the game unfolds.
- Lay
- To bet against an outcome, acting as the bookmaker for that selection.
- Margin
- The bookmaker's built-in profit margin, reflected in odds that are lower than the true probability.
- Odds
- The numerical expression of how likely an outcome is, determining how much you can win.
- Outright
- A bet on the overall winner of a tournament, league, or competition rather than a single match.
- Over/Under
- A wager on whether a specific statistic, like total goals, will be above or below a set number.
- Parlay
- Another name for an accumulator; all selections must win for you to receive a payout.
- Push
- A tie result where the stake is refunded because the outcome matches the line exactly.
- RTP
- Return to Player; the theoretical percentage of total wagers a game returns to players over time.
- Stake
- The amount of money you place on a bet.
- Surebet
- A situation where odds across different bookmakers guarantee a profit no matter the result.
- Value Bet
- A bet where the odds offered are higher than the true probability suggests, giving you expected value.
- Void
- A cancelled bet where the stake is returned, usually because the event was postponed or a rule was broken.
- Wagering Requirement
- The number of times you must turnover a bonus or free bet before you can withdraw any winnings.
- Wincast
- A combination bet linking a player to score first and his team to win the match.
